How My Joy of Giving works

My Joy of Giving (MJG) connects people who want to give with people and organisations who need help — through item donations, food rescue, and emergency help campaigns. Pick the role that matches what you want to do.

Choose your role

Each account type unlocks different actions. You can always browse as a guest; login is required to request items or create listings.

How giving works

  1. 1

    List what you can give

Create an item donation or surplus food listing with location and pickup details.

  2. 2

    Wait for a verified request

Receivers or NGOs request available listings. Donors may also request another person’s item for someone in need.

  3. 3

    Coordinate pickup

When a request is accepted or assigned, coordinate pickup using the contact details the product shares for that step.

  4. 4

    Confirm when done

Mark the handoff complete so the listing status stays accurate for everyone.

How receiving works

  1. 1

    Browse near you

Search donations and food rescue with location filters or Near Me.

  2. 2

    Request what you need

Sign in as a receiver (or donor helping someone else) and request an available listing.

  3. 3

    Collect after approval

When the donor or assigned NGO confirms, arrange pickup and collect the item or food.

  4. 4

    Confirm received

Confirm receipt on your dashboard so the donation can be marked completed.

How Food Rescue works

  1. 1

    Food provider lists surplus

Hotels and restaurants list meals available for rescue with quantity and timing.

  2. 2

    NGO or donor requests pickup

Verified NGOs use the Food Rescue board; donors can also request pickup for distribution.

  3. 3

    Admin assigns when needed

Some pickups are assigned by admins so the right organisation collects the food.

  4. 4

    Distribute to people in need

The collecting party picks up and distributes according to their process — MJG does not invent auto-approval.

Safety & trust

  • Verification helps keep the community safer — NGOs and sensitive flows may require proof before full access.
  • Emergency Help campaigns are for verified support requests. Public campaign payment/contribute is not live; do not expect online payment on campaigns today.
  • Privacy and terms are published on our CMS legal pages. Never share government ID or bank details in public posts.

Common questions

Do I need an account to browse?

No. Guests can browse donations, food rescue, emergency help, and track by reference. Login is required to request items or create listings.

What is the difference between Donor and Food Provider?

Donors list everyday items or household food through donate flows. Food Providers (hotels/restaurants) list surplus Food Rescue meals on the provider path.

Can a donor request Food Rescue pickup?

Yes. Donors can request Food Rescue pickup; assignment may involve admin or NGO workflows already in the product.

Can I donate money to an emergency campaign on the website?

Not as a live online payment today. Campaigns may accept offline pledges when enabled; payment gateway charging is not public yet.

Who can request donated items?

Receivers request for their own need. Active donors may also request another user’s available listing to help someone else.

What can volunteers do?

Volunteers use volunteer dashboard and assignment paths that already exist in the product. Do not expect features that are not shipped yet.

How do NGOs join?

Register as NGO, complete the organisation profile and proof requirements, then use Food Rescue and pickup tools when unlocked.

Where do I track a donation or request?

Use Track with the reference code, or open your role dashboard after login.
